The recloser is an autonomous device that detects faults and interruptions in long-distance overhead lines and performs automatically switch on/off. If the interruption is permanent then the switch isolates the part in which the fault occurs.
The recloser can be pole mounted or substation mounted and can operate as a stand-alone recloser without the need for an additional auxiliary supply, or it can be integrated into the most advanced distribution automation schemes.
